What it is
A break clock that lives on your staff's phones
If your shop uses check-in, this tab adds a break button for staff. Tap to start when they step out, tap to end when they are back. The app records the minutes, and where they were when the break started, and shows it to you live and as a record.
It is part of the plan where your business has its own LINE Official Account. Without one the tab still appears in the menu, but opens on an explainer page with a Contact us button.
Worth remembering
This feature is part of the own Official Account plan
Break messages go out from your shop's own LINE account. Want it switched on, or want to know whether the plan fits your shop? Talk to us.
How staff use it
Check in first, then the button appears
The break button sits on the employee's Today screen, under check-in, and only while they are checked in. Before that the app says: check in first, then you can take a break.
One break
Start break
One tap. The clock starts.
On break
The button shows the minutes so far.
End break
Tap again. The break is recorded to the minute.
Forgot to end it
Check-out closes it for them, or you can close it from this tab.
Location never blocks a break. If someone starts one outside the shop's area, it is still recorded, and simply carries an Outside area stamp for you to see.
Live and history
Three blocks on one page
- On break now: who is out, since when, a red stamp if they are past the limit you set, and a Close button for a break somebody forgot to end.
- Per person: how many breaks and how many minutes each person took in the date range you picked.
- Break record: every break, start to end, the minutes, and a stamp when it was closed automatically, closed by a manager, or started outside the area.
- One branch at a time. Switch branch in the menu and this page follows.
Break limits
The settings sit at the bottom of this same page
The owner, or a manager with the Settings permission, sees a Break settings block at the foot of the page.
- Break buttons: turn the button on or off for everyone at the branch.
- Break time limit and Daily break allowance: in minutes, blank means no limit. Going over shows as a stamp in the On break now list.
- LINE messages: choose whether staff get a message when a break starts and ends, and whether they are told when they go over.
- Who gets the alert: pick which managers are told when someone goes over, and how long to wait between alerts, 30, 60 or 120 minutes.
Rules worth knowing
Four facts that answer most questions
Worth remembering
Breaks are recorded, never deducted
The minutes sit in the record and in the On break now list, but hours and payroll do not move at all. And the button only appears while the person is checked in.
- Breaks are never deducted from pay. They are recorded only; hours and payroll are untouched.
- One break at a time. Tapping Start twice does not open a second one.
- Check-out, including automatic check-out, closes any open break. A forgotten break is also closed automatically after four hours.
- A manager needs the Break Activity permission specifically. The schedule permission alone does not show this tab.
